Billing
Billing
Every Planton organization has a billing account that determines which features are available and how much automation capacity is included. Billing is managed through Stripe and can be configured entirely from the web console.
Subscription Plans
Planton offers three subscription tiers. Each tier determines the number of environments you can create, the automation runner minutes included per billing period, and the level of support available.
Free
The starting point for individuals and small teams evaluating the platform. Includes a single environment and a limited allocation of automation runner minutes. No credit card required.
Plus
A paid tier for teams running production workloads. Includes unlimited environments, a larger allocation of automation minutes, and overage billing so deployments are never blocked by a hard cap. Includes a trial period for new subscribers.
Pro
The top tier for larger organizations with heavy automation usage. Includes unlimited seats, the highest automation minute allocation, and an extended trial period for evaluation.
Plan details β including current pricing, minute allocations, and trial durations β are displayed on the Plans tab in the Billing section of the web console.
What Automation Minutes Track
Automation minutes measure the compute time consumed by operations that Planton executes on your behalf:
- Build minutes β Time spent building container images in Service Hub pipelines (cloning, building, pushing)
- Deployment minutes β Time spent running Stack Jobs for infrastructure provisioning (init, plan, apply)
Minutes track actual execution time, not wall-clock time. Operations like viewing the console, managing team members, creating configurations, or waiting for approvals do not count against your allocation.
Managing Your Subscription
Viewing Your Plan
Navigate to Billing in the web console sidebar. The billing section has two tabs:
- Plans β View available subscription tiers and switch between them
- Subscription β View your current plan details, billing dates, usage against plan limits, and invoice history
Changing Plans
To upgrade or change your plan, go to Billing > Plans and select a different tier. Stripe handles proration, payment processing, and subscription lifecycle management. You can also cancel your subscription from the Subscription tab, which takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Payment and Invoices
Payment is processed through Stripe. From the Subscription tab, you can access the Stripe billing portal to update payment methods, view invoices, and download receipts.
